ABOUT JANA:

Jana Farkaš is a lifelong painter with over 18 years of experience under her brush. She is a graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Belgrade, and her work has been showcased in numerous exhibitions, including recent solo exhibitions.

She uses a variety of mediums, and her style is versatile and ever-evolving.

Jana never shies away from new challenges; as such, she has illustrated several books, worked on 2D animation, adorned the town’s electrical boxes with paintings of iridescent nature scenes, and conquered a unique project that included hand-painting 65 ft (20 m) tall sails.

HER STORY:

After graduating from the Art Academy in a large city in the Balkans, she moved to a small town on the Adriatic Sea - Tivat. She soon learned that her new home strongly promotes patriarchal values, conformity, and traditional roles. Being a free spirit, she remained true to her own values and became a trailblazer. She created new opportunities for children who wanted to pursue art.

In her studio, she trains future generations and helps them prepare for art high schools. She often offers pro-bono classes to those in need and is a dedicated volunteer. She is an activist for the rights of children and animals in an environment where it was customary to turn a blind eye to child abuse and animal cruelty.

Instead of conforming to an environment that pushed for traditional values and expectations, she remained unapologetically herself and watched the world around her slowly transform.

In this little town, she met another free spirit who became her muse and life partner. Together, they sail the Adriatic Sea. Their children also provide her with endless inspiration and ideas, including the creation of the Ghost character...
